"BIG" PANTHER TONGUE OIL SKIMMER

The PANTHER TONGUE Oil Skimmer (Patent #5,053,145, October 1, 1989) is designed to remove tramp oil from aqueous machine shop coolants and from wash solutions used in hot jet spray parts washers. The PANTHER 400 single ply cord belt has been field tested on hot jet washers at 200º F.

This oil skimmer has been extensively field tested in hundreds of installations. It not only works, it works reliably with minimum maintenance and attention.

In parts washers it is most effective in removing oil when the parts washer is not in operation. In some installations the skimmer is wired into the heating circuit and only operates when the wash solution is being heated. In other installations it is operated by a timer. Regardless of method, limiting skimmer operations increases service life of belts and motors.

WARRANTY: S.A.S. warrants these devices to be free of defects in materials and workmanship from date of purchase for one year. This warranty does not cover any type of consequential wear or damage resulting from accident, misuse or abuse.

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS:

1. Read all instructions before operating.

2. To protect against risk of electrical shock, do not immerse oil skimmer motor in water or other liquid. The motor should be protected from coolants, water or other liquids.

3. The Anko gear motor requires single phase 120V, 60 hertz power. A plug and cord are provided for attachment to a standard power outlet.

4. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before putting on or taking off parts.

MAINTENANCE:

During normal operation the PANTHER TONGUE wiper blade may become covered with gasket material or grease that will prevent it from removing oil. To clean, lift the wiper assembly and use a shop rag to wipe material off.

Once a month the PANTHER TONGUE should be removed from tank and cleaned inside and out. If there are any loose strings on the belt edges, they should be trimmed with scissors. Do not pull on strings.

BLADE ADJUSTMENT:

1. Unplug the skimmer from electrical outlet.
2. Loosen the two 10-24 button socket cap screws       attaching the blade to the wiper assembly.
3. Adjust the blade to make full contact with the belt.       Tighten both screws. Check alignment against the       belt after tightening.
4. Plug into electrical outlet.

BELT REPLACEMENT:

1. Unplug the skimmer from electrical outlet.
2. Remove from tank and place on work bench.
3. The lower roller is spring loaded. Push roller toward the upper roller and slip the belt off the lower roller.
4. There are two ways to remove the belt from the upper roller:

    A. Loosen drive roller set screw, slide roller to the right and remove belt.
   B. Remove the socket head shoulder bolt on the wiper assembly and the 7/16 head bolts from the bushing panel. Lift off the roller shaft, the belt can be removed.

5. The knurled upper roller should be cleaned to prevent buildup of material (will make belt slip).
6. Install new belt and reassemble in reverse order.

                7. Install new belt and reassemble in                   reverse order.
